Proper preparation is essential to ensure a safe, meaningful, and transformative experience. Below are guidelines to help you prepare for your Ayahuasca ceremony.
Physical Preparation
Dietary Guidelines
- Two Weeks Before: Avoid pork, red meat, dairy products, and heavily processed foods. Reduce salt and sugar intake.
- One Week Before: Follow a vegetarian or vegan diet if possible. (Chicken & Fish is ok)Avoid caffeine, alcohol, Sex and recreational drugs.
- Three Days Before: Eat light, easily digestible meals. Avoid spicy foods, fermented foods, and sexual activity.
Medications:
- Certain medications, especially antidepressants (SSRIs, MAOIs), and other psychiatric medications, can have dangerous interactions with Ayahuasca. Consult with a healthcare provider and inform us of any medications you are taking.
- No THC is highly recommended 4 weeks before ceremony.
Mental and Emotional Preparation
Intention Setting:
- Reflect on your reasons for participating in the ceremony. Setting clear, positive intentions can help guide your experience and deepen your journey.
Mindfulness Practices:
- Engage in daily practices such as meditation, yoga, or journaling to calm your mind and center your thoughts.
Emotional Readiness:
- Ayahuasca can bring deep-seated emotions to the surface. Being emotionally open and prepared to face these can enhance your healing process.
Spiritual Preparation
Connection with Nature:
- Spend time in nature to ground yourself and attune to the natural energies that Ayahuasca embodies.
Spiritual Practices:
- Engage in any personal spiritual practices that resonate with you, such as prayer, chanting, or reading spiritual texts.
Logistical Preparation
Packing List:
- Comfortable clothing suitable for sitting or lying down during the ceremony
- A blanket for warmth
- A pillow
- A journal and pen for post-ceremony reflections
- Personal items such as crystals or talismans that hold meaning for you
Travel Arrangements:
- Plan your travel to arrive at the retreat location with ample time to settle in and acclimate. Ensure your departure plans allow for rest and integration after the ceremony.
Day of the Ceremony
Fasting:
- Fast for at least six hours before the ceremony. Drink water to stay hydrated, but avoid heavy meals.
Relaxation:
- Spend the day in a calm, relaxed state. Engage in light activities that promote peace and mindfulness.
Post-Ceremony Integration
Rest:
- Allow yourself time to rest and recover after the ceremony. Listen to your body and provide the care it needs.
Reflection:
- Spend time journaling or discussing your experiences with trusted friends, fellow participants, or our integration support team.
Continued Mindfulness:
- Continue practices such as meditation and yoga to help integrate the lessons learned during your ceremony into your daily life.
